John Stowe

October 31, 1923 — May 2, 2014

Mr. John Homer Stowe, age 90, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Stowe was born October 31, 1923 in Danville, Va. to Clifton and Mae Adams Stowe. He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII and was retired from NCR in Greensboro after 42 years of service. Mr. Stowe was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and loved traveling, photography, and woodworking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Ryland Stowe and Walter Stowe and sister, Barbara S. Fitzgerald. Survivors include: his wife of 63 years Joan L. Stowe of the home; son, Alan L. Stowe and wife Lydia of Summerfield, NC; daughter, Linda S. Greer and husband Greg of Cornelius, NC; brothers, Norman Stowe of Danville, VA and Tommy Stowe and wife Linda of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Lindsay Lima and husband Tim, Brandon Stowe Greer, Tatiana Stowe Greer; great-grandchildren, Spencer Lima and Graham Lima. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 981 Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
