Alta Barker Spainhour

Mrs. Alta Barker Spainhour, age 83, of Elkin, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Spainhour was born April 15, 1943, in Surry County to Claude and Frances Gregory Barker.

Alta enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with her family and special friends. She enjoyed working at Wal-Mart and loved all her coworkers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Spainhour and her sister Kay Barker.

Survivors include: her sons Terry Spainhour and wife Betty of Ronda, Keith Spainhour and wife Diane of Roaring River; grandchildren, Jessica Spainhour, Katie Leos and husband Daniel, Cameron Price and wife Sheila; great grandchild Samson Leos.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Elkin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Elkin Funeral Service.
