Archie Dewitt Smoot

Archie Dewitt Smoot, age 79, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

Mr. Smoot was born June 23, 1943 in Surry County to Capp Smoot and Berlene Mathis Smoot.

Archie was a member of Billings Hill Baptist Church; he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he was known as Pa to everyone.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smoot was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Norman Smoot; second wife, Betty Ayers Smoot; and sister Audry Smoot.

Survivors include: daughters Sharon Clifton and husband Johnny of State Road, Glenda Driver and husband Mike of Yadkinville; Tammy Rinehart and husband Steve of Statesville; brothers William Smoot and wife Barbara of Elkin, Lanny Mathis and wife Debbie of Lewisville, Walter Kennedy and wife Wanda of Elkin; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, February 27, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Keith Wood and Rev. Mark Hurley officiating. Interment will follow in Mining Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
