Barbara Lorrine Phipps

Barbara Lorrine Phipps, age 81, of Elkin, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 16, 1944, in Washington, D.C., to the late Bayne Edward Phipps and Lexie Phipps.

Barbara had a generous heart. She was well known in the community for the handmade earrings she lovingly crafted and freely shared with others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she found joy in cooking and creating a warm and welcoming home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Phipps and Betty Jean Phipps.

She is survived by her husband, Hoyt Grissom of Elkin; her son and daughter‑in‑law, Jeffery Charles and Joni Grissom of Navarre, Florida; and her sister, Joyce Phipps of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Luisi and Jeffrey Charles Grissom of Loxley, Alabama; and her great‑grandchildren, Jeffrey Grissom, Jace Grissom, and Shep Grissom. Her beloved nieces: Carolina Del Moral Alvarez, Amanda Spears, Maggie Spears, and Kaylin Fluet. She also cherished the friendship of her close friends, Tinia Wallace and Robert Laing.
