Betty Jean Blackburn

Betty Jean Blackburn, age 86, of Ronda, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 , at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Betty was born on September 8,1939, in Wilkes County to Solomon Ray and Charmie Combs Hawkins.

Betty was a true member of the Ronda community, where she was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. When she wasn't tending to her garden, she could often be found in the kitchen preparing meals for her family. Her specialties included chicken casserole, flitters, fried squash, and a host of other cherished country recipes that brought family and friends together.

Betty was a lifelong and faithful member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle, a church she dearly loved. It was there that she came to know the Lord and grew in her faith. She could always be found on Sundays and Wednesdays, faithfully attending worship services and enjoying fellowship with her church family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband,  Glenn Blackburn, siblings, Pauline Hawkins, Gladys Johnson, Ray Hawkins, Patsy Dancy, and Angie Call.

Survivors include: a son, Chadley Glenn Blackburn of the home; sisters: Faye Miller and husband Richard, and Nancy Johnston, Grandchildren, Kaitlynn Maun and her husband Evan, and Charmie Blackburn, and many other beloved family members.

A funeral Service will be conducted at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 am with Rev. Kevin Blevins and Rev. Joshua Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at the Ronda City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Elkin Funeral Service on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
