Betty Jo Johnson

Mrs. Betty Jo Weaver Johnson, age 88, of Elkin, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 22, 1935 in Forsyth County to Jim and Iris Wood Weaver.  She was a member of Center Baptist Church.   Betty Jo loved animals and she enjoyed going to yard sales, sewing and flower gardening.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Pozzy Daniel “Dan” Johnson, a son, Larry Daniel Johnson, two sisters, Sue Flynt and Gail Tootie Vanhoy.

Survivors include: son, Jeffrey Allen Johnson and wife Emily; brothers, Jimmy Weaver and wife Sybil, Mike Weaver and wife Janet; grandchildren, Joey Johnson and girlfriend Casey, James Johnson, Joshua Holyfield, Jeremiah Johnson, Emmy Johnson, Elijah Johnson, Josiah Johnson, Jace Johnson and Ellie Johnson.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.  There will be a funeral conducted Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Springs Baptist with Rev. Curtis Ponder and Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating.  Mrs. Johnson will lie-in-state 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Center Baptist Church Cemetery.
