Betty Lou Hopson Spooner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on October 9, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, to James and Birdie Hopson. Betty lived a life filled with faith, love, and kindness.

Betty Lou was attending Fall Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville, she found great joy in her faith. Betty Lou was a dedicated homemaker who cherished spending time with her family, nurturing a warm and loving home. She had a passion for gardening, creating beauty with her hands, and treasured conversations with friends, reminiscing and sharing precious memories. She loved cooking, preparing heartfelt meals that brought comfort and joy to those she loved. Betty Lou was also an avid sports fan, cheering enthusiastically for her favorite team, the University of Alabama.

In addition to her parents, she leaves behind her beloved husband, Larry Spooner; her sons, Mark Spooner (Tracy) and Ron Spooner; her daughter, Renea Sabbatini (Joe); and her treasured grandchildren, Samuel Sabbatini and Levi Sabbatini.

A memorial service to honor Betty Lou's life and legacy will be held at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel on Wednesday, May 21 at 4:30 PM with Dr. Don Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are welcomed as a tribute to Betty Lou.
