Billy Charles Lyons

Billy Charles Lyons, age 90, of Jonesville, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Surry County to Hugh Clifton Lyons and Minnie Clementine Holbrook, Billy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he dedicated himself to his country with honor. Billy found joy in the simple pleasures of life gardening, fishing, and especially rabbit hunting with his beloved dogs.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sons, Eric Lyons and Rocky Lyons; sisters Emma Lou Darnell and Helen Smith; and brother Sam Lyons.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Susan Lyons; son Robby Lee Lyons (Teresa) of Jonesville; step-sons Kenny Holbrook (Robin) of State Road and Greg Holbrook (Sherry) of Thurmond; daughters Susan Nance (Matthew Thompson) of Elkin and Sandra Lyons Royal of Winston-Salem; and step-daughters Teresa Cox (Barry) of Elkin and Debby Chappell (Randy) of Elkin. Billy also leaves behind several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his canine companion Rocket.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 13, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Danny Dodds and Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
