Charles Perry Burchette

Charles Perry Burchette, age 83, of Ronda, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home.

Mr. Burchette was born on February 10, 1942, in Wilkes County to Charles E. and Kate Alee Caudill Burchette.

The United States Postal Service employed Mr. Burchette for many years. He was a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He attended Wilmington Junior College (now UNCW) and was on the 1961 National Championship Baseball team. His love for sports continued after college, as he was an avid Tar Heel basketball and Atlanta Braves fan.

Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James A. “Jim” Burchette, and sisters, Lucy Melton, Mary Jane Combs, and Katherine Bauguss.

Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Gail Couch Burchette, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Nita and Tony Carter of Roaring River, Mandy and Randy Crabb of Hamptonville, and Alice and Tommy Rogers of Lowgap; grandchildren, Alex Carter, Christy and Ethan Mathis, Zach and Kasey Crabb, Kinsey Crabb and Griffin Wheeler, and Mathew Rogers; and several nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James Safrit officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Rd. Ronda, NC 28670.
