Cody Dillon Groce

Cody Dillon Groce, age 32, of State Road, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his residence.

Cody was born April 27, 1991 in Surry County to Jimmy Dale and Brenda Parks Groce.  He was of the Baptist faith. Cody was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and riding and training horses.

In addition to his father Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Comas Groce and Harold and Margaret Parks.

Survivors include: his mother, Brenda Parks Groce of the home;  son, Coltan Groce of Thurmond; brother, Shawn Groce and his wife Andrea of Thurmond; uncle, Mike Parks and his wife Jeanette of State Road;  grandmother, Lucille Groce of State Road; cousin, Michael Parks and his wife Kandice of State Road; special aunt, “Aunt Moose” Tammy Young; special cousin, Viola Blevins; special friend, Sharon Collins; Cody’s heart brothers: Aaron, Anthony, John, Bradley, Hunter, Yankee John, and David; several other nieces, nephews,  cousins; and his dogs, Axle and Diesel.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Blankley officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
