Daniel Roy Whetstone

Mr. Daniel Roy Whetstone, age 77, of Elkin, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Whetstone was born on December 20, 1948, in San Francisco, California to Royal and Elizabeth Hockidy Whetstone. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, earning a Purple Heart for being wounded during Vietnam. He was the best father and grandfather and was a good poker player.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Survivors include: sons, James Mollico, and wife Megan of North Wilkesboro and Anthony Whetstone, and wife Kim of Elkin; daughters, Nicole Sellig of Lemont, IL and Samantha Royal, and husband Rafe of Ronda; a brother, Royal Whetstone, of California, nine grandchildren, and best friends and caregivers, Anne Sellig and Mary Lou.
