David Nelson Shumate

David Nelson Shumate, age 65, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Though his journey through life was not always easy, he faced every challenge with strength, determination, and a fighting spirit that never left him. He fought until he simply couldn't fight anymore.

David was a devoted father, family man, and loyal friend. His greatest joy was the people he loved. He believed that family mattered most, and while he wasn't afraid to push those he cared about to do better, it was only because he saw their worth and believed in their potential—even when they couldn't see it themselves.

Family meant everything to David. His love extended far beyond blood, His kindness, guidance, and unwavering support touched countless lives, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.

David will be remembered for his strength, his generous heart, his honesty, and the unconditional love he gave to those around him. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he changed and the family and friends who will carry his memory forward.

He is survived by his loving family, brothers Roy shumate and wife Sandra of mountainview, Donald shumate of Tennessee, wife Amy Trivette of jonesville, children Sabrina shumate, Lacy shumate of Washington, Coty Trivette of traphill, Patrick freeman, Dakota shumate and husband Austin gallimore, sundown shumate and wife Mary, niece hope Wyatt of Thurmond grandchildren rune benifeild Damion shumate jailyn moorefield Leo benifield keyton hairrs Tyler moorefield naveh Trivette Austin Mullins Johnathan Trivette Atlas moorefield Daisy shumate James flay Willa shumate cash flay preceded in death by those who welcomed him home.

A celebration of David's life will held on July 10th at 1pm at Stone mountain picnic area, afterwards the family will gather for a private ceremony to lay to rest his remains along side his life long best friend his horse Jack so he may ride free again
