Dennis Dwight Howard

Mr. Dennis Dwight Howard, age 78, of Thurmond, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at Hugh Chatham Hospital in Elkin.

Dennis was born June 29, 1945, in Surry County to John Irwin and Alma Lawson Howard.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Mr. Howard was a beekeeper and made some of the best honey in Wilkes and surrounding counties.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Carter Howard and brothers Alfred and Larry Howard.

Survivors include: son, James McCormick of Elkin; daughters, Crystal Kegley of Staunton, VA, Kimberly Bates of Elkin, and Betty Jo Wilson of Bardwell, KY; brothers, Johnny Howard and wife Karen of Thurmond, Allen Howard and wife Sherry of Yadkinville; sister, Linda Lineberry of Mountain Park; grandchildren, Christopher, Drema, Mercedes, Brittany, Eric, Chasidy, Matthew, Shawna, Hallie and Brayden, and 15 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.
