Diana Bauguess

Diana Lynn Bauguess, née Colvard, age 59, of State Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25, 2023.

Diana was born May 2, 1964 in Wilkes County to Charles Reginald “Reggie” Colvard Sr., and Lillian Ruth Jennings Colvard.

Diana was a 1982 graduate of Wilkes Central High School and was well known to anyone who stopped by Aladdin’s Hallmark in Elkin, where she worked for many years. Her gift-wrapping skills were legendary.

Diana loved her many, many dogs, cats and animals of all kinds. A friend once remarked that if a wounded animal could somehow manage to limp its way to Diana’s house, it would be set for life. Like her mother, she loved decorating and growing flowers and plants in her garden. She enjoyed cooking and was a master of the lost art of canning. Her guilty pleasures were classic rock, big budget summer movies and vanilla shakes from Cook Out. She was a talented artist whether sketching, crafting, decorating homes or cutting hair.

Diana was a tireless and devoted caregiver to her parents in their final years as they grew weak from cancer. She was a loving aunt to her two nieces, despite their physical distance, sending special gifts and cards for every birthday and holiday. She was known as a caring, loving wife, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include:  her husband of nearly 40 years and the love of her life, Ricky Bauguess of the home; brother, Chuck Colvard; sister-in-law, Susan McCann; nieces, Maddie and AJ McCann-Colvard, all of Mt Laurel, NJ; aunt, Linda Sullivan and family of Winston-Salem; beloved pets Olive and Maggie; friends too numerous to list; and a wonderful church family.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
