Doris Sexton Sparks

Mrs. Doris Sexton Sparks, age 81, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin.

Mrs. Sparks was born September 16, 1941 in Wilkes County to McKinley Leff and Mamie Lyon Sexton.  She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Sparks was co-owner of the Jonesville Jackson-Hewitt office and was a tax preparer for over 45 years. She was a talented seamstress and loved to bake. Mrs. Sparks was a proud graduate of the second graduating class at North Wilkes High School.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Lee Sparks and her brothers, David Sexton, Kenneth Sexton, Toliver Sexton, and Dennis Sexton.

Survivors include: daughters, Belynda Sparks Collins and her husband Danny of Jonesville, Sonya Sparks Blackburn and her husband Scotty of Ronda; brother, Bill Sexton and his wife Patty of Hays; sister, Carolene Wagoner and her husband Frank of Elkin; grandchildren, Adam Luffman and his wife Sarah, Carly Wilson and her husband Kandon, Angie Collins Hinshaw and her husband Jeff, Kallie Blackburn, and Austin Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Bryson Hinshaw, and Lilly Luffman.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bishop and Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Interment will follow in Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2501 Swan Creek Rd, Jonesville, NC 28642.
