Dorothy Settlemyer Bauguess

Dorothy Settlemyer Bauguess, 83, of Elkin, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Born on February 2, 1942, in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Z.W. Settlemyer and Edna Blanton Settlemyer.

Dorothy dedicated many years of service to Yadkin Valley Bank before retiring. She was a devoted member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gayle Autry Bauguess, her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Hubert Thompson, and a grandson, Anthony Anderson.

Dorothy is survived by her son Jason Bauguess and his wife April of Traphill; her stepson Danny Bauguess and his wife Peggy of Elkin; grandchildren Colby Bauguess and his wife Rose, Maison Bauguess, and Kaydence Hinson; great-grandchild Atlas Bauguess; and nieces Sharon White and her husband Chris, as well as Denise Baxter and her husband Jim.

Private funeral services for the Bauguess family will be held at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church.
