Eugene Hemric

Mr. Paul Eugene Hemric, age 83, of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hemric was born December 10, 1939 in Surry County to Paul Eli and Era Mae Crissman Hemric.  He was a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church where he was an active member of his Sunday School Class.  Mr. Hemric enjoyed fishing and camping at Greenfield Campground in West Jefferson where he made many lifelong friends.

In addition to his parents Mr. Hemric was preceded in death by his sister, Bertha McKinney and   brother-in-law, Mack McKinney.

Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Sheldon D. Hemric of the home; son, Chris Hemric and his wife Beth of Jonesville and grandson, Steven Hemric and his wife Chelsea of Jonesville.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesville First Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Hensley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary prior to the service.
