Eva Jean Barker

Mrs. Eva Jean Warren Barker, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.  Eva was born on February 14, 1931 in Wilkes County to Vance Warren and Gladys Sidden Warren.

Eva had an infectious smile that warmed the heart of everyone she met.  She was a loving wife for 64 years.  She was a devoted mother to her children and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Eva was a devoted and skilled care giver for many family members as they faced medical illnesses.  Eva was an expert seamstress, making clothes for many people as well as making her daughter’s wedding dress.  In her younger years she worked tirelessly on the family farm and poultry operation.  She enjoyed working in the vegetable garden and canning and was known as a good cook.  She was loved by many people and will be sorely missed by all.

In addition to her parents Eva was preceded in death by her husband, James Roosevelt Barker and daughter, Janet Barker Honeycutt.

Survivors include: son, Steve Barker and his wife Ginger of Mt. Pleasant, NC; granddaughters, Amber Sweeney and her husband Brock of Dobson, Amanda Crumby and her husband Mike of Kernersville; great-grandchildren, Logan Sweeney, Kaylee Sweeney, James Crumby and Joshua Crumby.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Elmer Barker officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County – Albemarle, 960 North First St., Albemarle, NC  28001.
