Evelyn Owens Norman

Mrs. Evelyn "Ev" Owens Norman, age 101, of Traphill passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.

Evelyn was born December 10, 1924, in Surry County to Murphy “Vess” Sylvester and Alice Billings Owens.

Ev was known as an outgoing independant woman with a quirky personality and sense of humor. She loved her family, the outdoors and had a fondness for wild flowers. She was someone who wasn't afraid of work and worked for Chatham Manufactoring for over 40 years before retiring. She will definitely be missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis “Skeet” Norman; brothers, Murphy Owens, Brock Owens and wife Lula ; sisters Wilda Owens Lawrence and husband Cecil, Blair Owens Morrison, Opal Owens Bates and husband Roy, and Artie Owens-Martin and husband Hervy.

Survivors include : a sister-in-law, Vera Owens of Winston-Salem; nieces, Barbara Cooper of Elkin, Debo Lawrence-Cornett and husband Larry of Elkin, and Alicia Cartette and husband Steve of Winston-Salem and many Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
