Gerette-Lynne Gilliam

Mrs. Gerette-Lynne “Geri” Gilliam, age 54, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Health due to a cardiac event. Geri was born November 2, 1968 in Teaneck, New Jersey to Richard and Cecelia Jones.

Geri was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, teacher and friend. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Geri donated much of her life to teaching.  She taught for many years in elementary and middle schools.  Most recently at C.B. Eller Elementary School where she taught math and social studies.

Survivors include: husband, Donald Wayne Gilliam Jr.; sons, Donald W. “Tre” Gilliam III, Brandon James Gilliam, Corey Michael Gilliam; daughter, Aimee Leanora Gilliam; parents, Richard and Cecelia Jones; brother, Richard Jones, Jr. and wife Colleen; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Newton and Shane Watson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Missions, 1997 Pleasant Ridge Road, State Rd, NC 28676.
