Grace Keenan Jenkins

Grace Mary Jenkins, 100 years of age of Elkin, NC, formerly of Raleigh
and Southern Pines, NC, Fords, NJ and Brooklyn, NYC, was born to
eternal life peacefully at home on May 23, 2024. She was born
November 29, 1923, Thanksgiving Day, to Charles J. and Margaret
Dolan Keenan of Brooklyn, NY, who proceeded Grace in death, as well
as her brothers and sisters, John, Emma, Charles, William, Walter,
Dorothy, and Florence and husband Stuart C. Jenkins, Veteran of
WWII, Pacific theatre, who died in 1981.
Grace is survived by daughter Kathleen Jenkins of Elkin, sons Stuart C.
of Wilkes County and Robert F. and wife Patti L. Jenkins and
granddaughter Kelly N. and husband Jason Boyd all of New Jersey;
also beloved nieces and nephews, Maureen, Patricia, Kathleen,
Charles, Susan, Donald, Nancy and grandnephew, Nicholas. We can’t
leave out her faithful and lovable dog companion, Casey, who will also
miss her greatly.
Grace worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC from the 1940’s to
1950, Englehardt Minerals and Chemicals and AT&T in New Jersey in
finance, accounts receivable and payroll. She loved to read and
belonged to the Sodality and made rosaries for years. She was a
communicant of St. Stephen Church, Elkin, after moving from Raleigh
in 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Stephen Church, 100
Hawthorne Ave., Elkin on Tuesday, May 28th at 12:00 noon, followed
by burial at St. John the Baptist de la Salle Church Cemetary in North
Wilkesboro. Reception to follow.
All love and prayers are appreciated, and in lieu of of flowers, suggest
donations to St. Stephen Church and to the helpful and supportive
staff of Mountain Valley Hospice. Thanks to the Trappists of Melleray,
Iowa, for praying while making a beautiful oak casket for Grace with
care.
