Hilda Gaye Combs

Mrs. Hilda Gaye Johnson Combs, age 77, of Elkin, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at PruittHealth-Elkin.

Mrs. Combs was born on November 18, 1948, to Rev. Joel and Chloe Holland Johnson.

She was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. Hilda had a great personality and enjoyed making people laugh.

Survivors include: her husband, Stan Combs of the home; a sister, Pat Anthony and husband Clyde of Roswell, GA; and while she and Stan were void of children in the home, she claimed nieces and nephews as her own.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Steve Kramm. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church, 118 North Elkin Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
