Howard Clay Harris

Mr. Howard Clay Harris, age 76, of Mocksville, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Mr. Harris was born on July 19, 1949, in Elkin to Howard Somers and Panthea Templeton Harris. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Professionally, he retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Maxine Harris, and a brother, Travis Harris.

Survivors include: a daughter, Rebecca Harris of Winston-Salem; a brother, Julius Harris; a wife, Willa Dean of Thurmond; sisters, Louetta Stone and husband Jerry of Advance, and Maggie Bodford and husband John of Clemmons; a grandson, Evan Benge; and a special friend, Wongduen Shoaf.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Attaway officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10346 will provide military honors.

Flowers will be accepted, and memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, PO Box 130, State Road, NC 28676.
