Jesse Wood

Mr. Jesse Wood, age 83, passed away Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Wilkes Health & Rehabilitation in N. Wilkesboro.

Mr. Wood was born March 28, 1940 in Wilkes County to Charlie Everette and Alma Burcham Wood. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and an avid nature lover. Mr. Wood was employed by Key City Furniture and was a member of Roaring River United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Mae Byrd Wood; daughter, Patricia Ann Hemric; brothers, J.C. Wood, Everette Wood, Clyde Wood, Bub Wood; and sisters, Ethel Walker, Jewell Jordan and Betty Jane Shepherd.

Survivors include: sons, Phil Edward Caudill and his companion Vickie Walker of N. Wilkesboro, Larry Dean Caudill and his wife Dee Dee of Canton; daughter, Debra Moody and her husband Clyde of State Road; son-in-law Michael Hemric of State Road; sister, Metella “Toots” Perkins and her husband Sammy of Roaring River; grandchildren, Tiffany Ann Hurd and her husband Roger, Brianna Rose Hemric, Kristie Kaiser, Neil Caudill, Dana Caudill Smith; and great-grandchildren, Ava Scarlett Hurd and Stella Ann Hurd.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Roaring River United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dylan Cook and Mr. Rick Darnell officiating.
