Jo Ann Sams

Jo Ann Sams, age 84 of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin.

Jo Ann was born on October 11, 1941, in Surry County to William Clade and Clara Shelton Sams.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Hassell Sams, Wayne Sams, and Jesse Sams, sister, Clara Nelson, and son-in-law, David Bud Smith.

She is survived by her son Jeremy Hutchens and wife Virginia of Reidsville, daughters, Sandra Smith of Reidsville, Tara Dollyhigh and husband Troy, of Browns Summit, sister, Jackie Mills of Elkin, and grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Caden, Sophie, Azuree, Henry, Diego, Parker, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Charles Stone Memorial Library in Pilot Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Memory Care Unit, 700 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
