Joan Hayes

Ms. Joan King Hayes, age 71, passed away November 22, 2025 at Pruitt Health of Elkin. Ms. Sparks was born November 14, 1954 in Mount Airy to Frank King and Mary Ann Tate. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets and also gardening. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Michael Denola Sparks and her brother David Lee Waller. Survivors include her son, Billy Sparks (Amanda); 4 sisters: Regina Marti Reynolds (Paul), Emily Jane Potts, Bonnie Jean McMillan (Guy) and Mary Ellen Blackburn (Doug); 4 brothers: Larry Gale Tate, Donald Kent Bond, David Timothy Bond (Pam), and John William Bond; 3 grandchildren: Kate and Mia Sparks (Billy and Amanda) and Justin Pruitt (Michael) as well as a host of nieces and nephews. There will be no formal funeral services at this time.
