Joann Adams Carter

Joann Adams Carter, 76, of Elkin, passed away on Friday, February 20, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Wilkes County to Alec Adams and Evelyn Wyatt Adams.

Joann was a devoted member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was known for her kind and loving spirit, always placing God first and her family close behind. Throughout her life, she cared for several ill family members, serving others with a genuine and selfless heart. Her compassion, strength, and faith were evident in everything she did.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Bobby Samuel Carter Sr.; her brothers Hermon Adams, Bennett Adams, and Edwin Adams; and her sister Nancy Prevette.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Bobby Samuel Carter Jr, Charles Carter and his wife Gina; her daughter, Barbara Bost and her husband Robert; her brother, Colon Adams; and her sisters Judy Baldwin, Marie Hamby and her husband Charles, and Nelly Gentry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Austin Carter, Brock Carter, Harrison Carter, Olivia Carter, Grant Carter, Robert Bost III, and Adam Carter Bost. Joann held a special place in her heart for her dear friends Sarah and Jerry Byrd, Dawn and Mike Burton, and Gail Cox.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor John Newton officiating. Flowers will be accepted.
