Graham Clark

John Graham Clark III, 74, was born in Greenville, NC and passed away quietly on December 2, 2025, in Elkin, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Graham Clark Jr. and Ariane Dovnarowicz Clark, and his brother, George E. Clark. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Holcomb Clark; sister, Michele Clark Gronek (Lonnie); three nephews Clark Gronek, Pearce Gronek and Cliff Clark; and one niece Tracie Clark Creta.

After graduating from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Graham completed his Masters in Political Science at East Carolina University. Further pursuing his interest in government and politics, he was admitted to Campbell University School of Law and received his Juris Doctrate in 1984. During his days in Buies Creek he developed an everlasting bond of friendship with a small group referred to as the “law school buddies.” After law school Graham spent time in public service as an assistant district attorney in Lexington and Morehead City. After gaining proficiency in the courtroom, Graham entered the private practice of law establishing a firm in Greenville concentrating his practice as a defense lawyer in the area of criminal law. Graham was admitted to practice in both state and federal courts at the highest level and awarded the noteworthy credential as a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law by the North Carolina State Bar. After practicing in Greenville for more than 20 years, Graham retired and began devoting his full attention to his life-long love of real estate investing.

Graham was truly a one-of-a-kind individual whose colorful character has left us with magnificent lasting impressions. He was a devoted music lover and spent decades seeking out the best and current music as well as hidden treasures only he could find. He was also one of the first to embrace the Beatles haircut! For many years, Graham was an avid golfer with the remarkable one-time feat of shooting seven under par. People were drawn to him because of his natural charm (along with an occasional flirt) which made others feel connected and genuinely appreciated. His nephews recalled that Graham was endlessly curious about their lives and wanted the perspectives of today’s youth. And a final reminder from them, “he was hilarious!”

Graham found solace at his foothills home in rural Surry County where he would spend his days managing his business affairs, maintaining the farm, (chopped a great deal of wood), taking hikes, and planning his next adventure. Graham was always curious about “over there” – far off places to explore and experience. He did just that, with his wife Vicki.

Graham’s family would like to express their gratitude to the health care providers at Hugh Chatham Health for their expert and compassionate care for Graham as he bravely fought his pancreatic cancer for the past fifteen months. A special thanks is due to Pastor Arlo Tysinger who guided Graham in his spiritual faith journey during his last days with us. The wisdom, comfort and strength she shared is beyond description with mere words. Graham’s mannerisms and voice will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church.
