Joseph Randolph "Randy" Kirby, Jr.

Joseph Randolph “Randy” Kirby, Jr., age 73, of Waxhaw formally of Elkin, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at Brookdale Carriage Club in Charlotte.

Randy was born July 30, 1950 in Florence, South Carolina to Joseph Randolph Kirby, Sr. and Dorothy Culick Kirby Altman.

Randy was the owner of Swifts Auto Parts for many years and later was an insurance adjuster for Farmers Insurance.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. Randy served in the Old Hickory Council of the Boy Scouts of America for 50 years.  He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow, Wahissa Lodge 118, Troop/Pack 651, and the Old Hickory Council Cook Crew.

Randy was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: His mother, Dorothy Kirby Altman of Tifton, GA; son, Joseph Randolph Kirby, III and wife Lisa of Weddington, NC, daughter Brandy Kirby Shott and husband Mike of Waxhaw, NC; sister, Susan Kirby Roe and husband Wayne of Tifton, GA; five grandchildren, Jackson Shott, Madison Shott, Mackenzie Kirby, Byrnne Kirby, and Kennedy Shott.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday October 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Travis Gentry officiating.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
