Kenneth Dean Poplin

Kenneth Dean Poplin, age 89 of Roaring River, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on March 5, 1937, in Wilkes County to George Wesley and Rozella Sparks Poplin.

Mr. Poplin was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 30 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gold prospecting, and crushing walnuts for the whole community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Vernon Poplin, and sister Carol Poplin LaGrow.

Survivors include: his wife, Erline Billings Poplin, daughters, Diane Elizabeth Poplin Spainhour and husband Keith of Roaring River, and Amy Jo Poplin Russell and husband Edwin of Ronda; brother, Bobby Alton Poplin and wife Myrtle; grandchildren, Cameron Price and wife Sheila, Noah Russell, Jacob Russell and Autumn Russell, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted or donations made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund ,1120 Austin Little Mtn Rd, Ronda, NC 28670.

The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and the staff at Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
