Lillian Cox Newman

Lillian Cox Newman, age 86, of Elkin, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.

Lillian was born July 11th, 1940 , in Wilkes County to Alvin and Maude Cox.

Mrs. Newman was a kind hearted soul and enjoyed staying busy, in her younger years she loved being on the farm with her husband Jimmy, fishing, crocheting, and being crafty. Not letting her age slow her down from being creative, in her later years, she took up plastic cavas working .

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Newman and a son Greg Newman;

Survivors include: a daughter, Sheila Myers and her husband Ricky of State Road; a daughter-in-law, Annette Newman Blackburn of State Road; four grandchildren: Meghan Polinski, Sarah Isaacs and her husband Justin, Samantha Newman Comer and her husband Josh, and Allison Newman Metcalfe and her husband Andrew;; and six great grandchildren: Jordan Isaacs, Andrew Isaacs, Nevaeh Comer, David Comer, Sloane Comer, and Eddie Metcalfe.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road, Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 at 10:am with Dr. Roger Hensley officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made in Lillian's honor to a charity of the donor's choice.
