Lloyd Junior Spicer

Lloyd Junior Spicer, age 83, of Hamptonville, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Lloyd was born May 1, 1943, in Surry County to Lloyd Turner and Ruby Wood Spicer.

Lloyd was a simple man and tried to live a simple life. He believed in working hard and living life to its fullest. Like many people, as he aged he grew in wisdom and understood that what many see as the small things in life are really the most precious, things like spending time outdoors and spending time with his family. Nothing in life brought him more joy than being with his wife, his daughters (whom he called his princesses), his son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife Patty Spicer of the home; children: Veretta Duy, Allison Blackburn and husband Ray, Adrianne Darnell and husband Brian, Holly Roberts, David Spicer and wife Kaitlin; a sister, Betty Collins and husband Bob, a brother James Daniel (Donnie) Spicer; grandchildren: Troy Blackburn and his wife Kimberly, Nathan Tharpe and his wife Jessica, Will Blackburn and his wife Felicia, Scotty Darnell and his wife Jessica, Casey Darnell and her partner Joey Johnson, Megan Blackburn and her partner Courtney, Cameron Scoggins, Elaina Spicer, Caroline Roberts, Teagan (Papa's little Tig) Spicer, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Elliot Smith and Rev. Danny Dodds officiating. Interment will follow at the Cool Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Elkin. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
