Lucy Sparks Anthony

With deep love and cherished memories, the family of Lucy Lillian Sparks Anthony announces her peaceful passing at the age of 83, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Stella Mae and Jasper Sparks, as well as her beloved sister, Lorene Simmons, and brother-in-law Henry Simmons.

Born September 30, 1941, Lucy lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her warm smile and kind spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Lucy is survived by her loving daughter, Lynn Harris, and Lynn’s husband, Joel Harris. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jessika Cave (Robert Cave), Caleb Harris (Morgan Harris), and Megan Adams. Her legacy lives on in her precious great-grandchildren: Amelia, and Juliette Harris, Sawyer Cave, and Baby Girl Harris who brought immense joy to her later years.

She also leaves behind her beloved sister Letha Golden, her cherished brother Ronnie Sparks (Loretta Sparks), and her special “daughter in love” Christy Swaim Clark (Tommy Clark). Lucy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A woman of quiet strength and deep faith, Lucy will be remembered not only for her gentle nature and unshakable love for her family but also for her fiery and spunky personality that brought laughter, energy, and a spark to every room she entered. Her legacy is one of love, family, and resilience.

A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held Friday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Simmons and Rev. Steve Stoltzfus officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, P O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017, in honor of her generous spirit.

She will be forever missed and always remembered.
