Matthew Stephen Brown

Mr. Matthew Stephen Brown, age 43, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026 at his residence. Matthew was born November 12, 1982 in Forsyth County to Henry Stephen and Glenda Williams Brown.

Matthew was a member of First United Methodist Church Elkin and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 648.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Hayley Lammon Brown; paternal grandparents, Henry “Shorty” and JoAnn B. Brown; maternal grandparents, Glen and Shirley M. Williams.

Survivors include: his parents; sister, Emily Brown Leonard and husband Jeffery of Mount Airy; aunts, Beth W. Kernodle and husband Seth of Smith Mountain Lake, VA and Lorre Brown Coone and husband David of Independence, VA; uncles, David Williams of Yadkinville and Michael Williams and wife Kathy of Yadkinville; several cousins and devoted girlfriend, Chandra Macemore.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Elkin with Rev. Kaury Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Boy Scout Troop 648, c/o Richard Seipel, 430 North Bridge St. Elkin, NC 28621.
