Melissa "Missy" Carter White

It is with indescribable sadness that we share with you the passing of Melissa Dawn Carter White.

Missy’s unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father was the most important part of her life. She was deeply grateful for her salvation and found great comfort in knowing that, through her faith, she would spend eternity with Him. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she lived, and it brought peace, strength, and hope to those around her.

Missy was a loving and devoted wife to Brent White, a remarkable sister to Robin Minton, a cherished niece, and the best aunt anyone could ever ask for. She was also a wonderful great-aunt, a role she treasured and held in the highest honor. Family meant everything to Missy, and she treasured the many moments they shared together.

Although she cherished many things in life, the moments spent with her family and friends were among her greatest treasures. Her love, kindness, laughter, and presence touched the lives of so many, leaving behind memories that will forever be held close to our hearts.

Missy was born January 27, 1971 in Surry County to Dannie Ray Carter and her mother, Rebecca “Becky” Carter Newman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: her husband, Brent White of the home; sister, Robin Minton and husband Jackie of Elkin; nieces, Jade Tate and husband Andrew and Emily Minton; nephew, Logan Minton; great-nephews, Hayden Tate, Jack Minton and Jett Minton; great-niece, Kennedy Minton; special cousins, Anna Rice and Donna Green and many special friends.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, August 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the church.

The loss of Missy will be one of the hardest things for us to learn to live with. Her absence will be deeply felt, and there will never be another quite like her. Yet, even in our grief, we are thankful for the peace that comes from knowing this is not goodbye forever.

Because of Missy’s faith and the promise of our Heavenly Father, we have hope. We know that one day, we will see her again.

Until that glorious day, we will carry her love in our hearts, cherish the memories she gave us, and be grateful for every moment we were blessed to share with her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice, Dr. Carol Albright and staff and all the visits, prayers, food and love shown to Missy and her family over the past few months.
