Michael Scott Harris

Michael Scott Harris, age 60, of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, North Carolina.

Michael was born on September 13, 1965 in Elkin, North Carolina to Grady Winfield and Cora Olene Perry Harris.

Michael was a valued employee of Walmart, having worked with the company for over twenty years. Working in the retail industry suited Michael, where he rarely met a stranger and was always eager to strike up a conversation with anyone willing to listen. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved his kids and family.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother Sammy Harris.

Survivors include: sons Scotty Harris and Vance Harris; brothers Charlie Harris and partner Rita Billings, Jerry Harris and wife April, a sister, Judy Baker and husband Jeff; two grandchildren: Tristyn Harris and Paisleigh Harris; nieces and nephews: Charles Harris, Misty Cranford, Mindy Renegar and husband David, Jonathan Harris, Andrea Willey and husband Richard, Anna Harris, Amanda Levin and husband Eric, Justin Harris, Dustin Harris, Carrie Baker, Stephanie Baker.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Danny Royal officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.
