Mr. Michael Brian Sayles, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and artistry. Born on March 21, 1959, to Brian Sayles and Mary Rose, Michael's life was a tapestry of creative passion and heartfelt connections. Michael was an extraordinary artist whose talent knew no bounds. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether casting a line while fishing, cruising around town in his beloved truck, or sharing jokes and laughter with friends and family. His artistic prowess led him to work at Harris Leather & Silverworks, where he crafted masterpieces for some of the most renowned figures. Michael's art was not just a vocation but a reflection of his vibrant spirit and boundless creativity.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Brian Sayles and Mary Rose; his sister, Shannon Gastrich; his aunts, Lucy Barnard, Dixie Sawyer, and Dottie Hutchens; his uncle, James Rose; his cousin, James “Rocky” Dapp; and his grandparents, Thomas Weldon Rose and Mary Etta Rose.
He is survived by his daughters, Shyla Sayles and Haley Sayles; his brother, Casey Sayles and his wife, Dana; his sister, Mary Snow and her husband, Randell. Michael also leaves behind his cousins, Tony Barnard and his wife, Lisa; Tommy Dapp and his wife, Kelly; and Mary Byrd and her husband, Kevin. He was cherished by several nieces and nephews, along with his special friend, Sami Harris.
Services will be held at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Arlington First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome, and donations can be made in Michael's memory to Novant Forsyth Cancer Center and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, organizations close to his heart.
