Mr. Gayle Autry Bauguess

Mr. Gayle Autry Bauguess, age 87 of Traphill, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bauguess was born in Wilkes County on August 10, 1937, to William Click and Nancy Ethel Bauguess.

Gayle retired from K-Mart in Elkin after 15 years of service as store manager. He was a member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching westerns, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Justus, Leon, Lindberg, and Holand Bauguess; his sister, Mary Ruth Combs; and a grandson, Anthony Anderson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Bauguess of the home; sons Jason Bauguess and wife April of Traphill, Danny Bauguess and wife Peggy of Elkin; sister Iverene Billings of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Colby Bauguess and wife Rose, Maison Bauguess, Kaydence Hinson; great-grandchild Atlas Bauguess, also several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church, with Rev. Ricky Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Bauguess family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m.
