Nancy Louise Darnell

Mrs. Nancy Barker Darnell, age 86, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Woltz Hospice Home. Nancy was born in Surry County to Cornice Paul “Pete” and Ruby Ferguson Barker.

In addition to her parents, she as was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Darnell; sister, Shirley Porter and a brother, Ray Barker.

Nancy was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle. She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed buying them their favorite snacks. Nancy loved doing puzzles, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include: her sons, Dennis Darnell and wife Sherry of Boonville and Alvin Darnell of Ronda; grandchildren, Nichole Darnell-Greene and husband Michael, Phillip Darnell, Kandice Darnell Adams and husband Austin and Codie Royal; great-grandchildren, Fisher Greene, Emmi Greene, Rivee Greene, Ava Royal and Enslee Royal.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle cemetery with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
