Ralph J. Prevette, 87, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 5:29 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with his grandson, Benjamin Prevette officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Elkin, NC he was born January 17, 1939, the son of the late Hillery Gaither Prevette and Dorothy Weatherman Prevette. He was a retired Command Sergeant Major from the United States Army having served three combat tours in Vietnam.
Following retirement from the United States Army, Ralph went on to work for the Christian County Public School System where he would later retire from the Transportation Department. While working for CCPS, Mr. Prevette drove many bus routes, hauled numerous sports teams, and assisted with the training of many new drivers. In the summertime, when he wasn’t tied up with the school system, he served as a Motorcoach Driver.
Mr. Prevette was a member of the old Herndon Methodist Church. He was also a member of the VFW, DAV, and served as an Eagle Ambassador with the Military Affairs Committee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Louise Prevette; his brother: Robert Prevette; and his sister: Ella Mae Anderson.
Survivors include his sons: Eddie (Deborah) Prevette of Herndon, KY and Dan (Sharon) Prevette of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren: Benjamin (Gabrielle) Prevette and Annika Prevette; his great grandchildren: Abigale Prevette and Cooper Prevette; and his sister-in-law: Norene (Ronnie) Vanhoy.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the local DAV, the Joseph Eddie Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center, or the veteran’s organization of your choice.
