Randy Allen Medley

Randy Allen Medley, age 55, of Thurmond, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, due to an automobile accident. Randy was born in Alleghany County on May 1, 1971, to James Edgar “Bud” Medley and Betty Bauguess Myers.

 He worked in concrete construction and enjoyed going to antique stores, riding through the mountains and countryside, and going to McDonald’s. His favorite drink was sweet tea. He especially loved spending time with his family and playing with his great-nieces.

 Randy was musically gifted and could play any stringed instrument. He loved playing and singing for his family, or simply for himself. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Medley; his paternal grandparents, Garland and Margaret Medley; and his maternal grandparents, Marler and Jessie Bauguess. 

He is survived by his mother, Betty Bauguess Myers; sisters, Carolyn Bledsoe, Melinda Gentry, Rodney Griffin, Shannon Riley, Shavon Medley, and Samantha Medley; brothers, Eddie Medley, Lester Medley and wife Rhonda, and Kaleb Medley; and several loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as his extended family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Adam Collins officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Thurmond. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the chapel.
