Mr. Robert Anthony DeJohn, of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Woltz Hospice Home.

Mr. DeJohn was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, where he enjoyed the company of new friends and fellow parishioners.

Robert was born in Binghamton, NY, and is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, two sons, two daughters, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert served four years in the Army Reserves in Ft Drum, NY. He worked most of his career in the tile and marble business and travelled extensively throughout the country and abroad on numerous construction projects. He eventually led his family to settle in Schenectady, NY, where they lived for the majority of his life.

Robert finished his career working for the Turner Construction Company as an OSHA safety inspector. At the time of his retirement, he and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, where he enjoyed the warmer weather, golf, fishing, memberships with the Moose and Elks clubs, and a host of new friends and acquaintances. He and his wife eventually settled in Elkin, NC, to be close to their son and daughter-in-law.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 101 Hawthorne Road, Elkin, NC 28621, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. Presider is Father John D. Hanic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
