Roger Dale Guyer Sr.

Roger Dale Guyer, age 78, of State Road, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Surry County on February 25, 1947, he was the son of DG Junior Guyer and Helen Mae Holbrook Guyer.

Mr. Guyer was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, had a passion for reading, and was an avid history enthusiast—particularly of the Civil War era. He was also a collector and found joy in riding his motorcycle in previous years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Guyer was preceded in death by his brother, Rocky Guyer; sister, Sherri Guyer; nephews, Brian Guyer and Rocky Guyer Jr.; niece, Mandy Guyer; and grandson, Korey Barber.

He is survived by his son, Roger Dale Guyer Jr. of State Road; daughters, Starr Burchette (husband Michael) of Easley, SC, and Kristy Guyer (husband Jamie Vanhoy) of Elkin; brother, Danny Guyer (wife Bonnie) of State Road; grandchildren, Justin Triplett, Austin Luffman, Kayla Burchette, Hailey Minton, Dyllan Brown, Issac Brown, Davin Guyer, Daya Guyer, and Halle Howard; and great-grandchildren, Christian, Eli, Khloey, Rylan, Harper, Talyiah, Korben, Dyllard, and Preston.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jim Holbrook officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the memorial service.
