Roy Douglas Jarrard

Roy Douglas Jarrard, age 72, of State Road, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 20, 1953, to George Eilliot and Marie Klebs Jarrard.

Mr. Jarrard was a member of Compass Worship Church. He was a dedicated leader in Boy Scout Troop 651 and was Wood Badge Trained and served as the Junior Leadership Training Scoutmaster for the Old Hickory Council. He was also a member of the North Carolina Forestry Association. Mr. Jarrard was 1976 graduate of Forestry. He retired from LP "Abitibi" as a Procurement Forester. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, history, woodworking, helping others and was a volunteer at Samaritans Kitchen of Wilkes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Matthew Jarrard, and sister, Susan Jarrard.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Walker Jarrard, of the home; son, Sean Patrick Jarrard, of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, George F. Jarrard, of Maryland; sister, Patricia Jarrard, of Griffith, IN; nephew, Steven Bruns, and wife, Pam, of Kentucky; and Cousin, Virginia Heilmann, and husband, John, of Cary.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church. 

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

The family would like to thank John and Emily Attaway, Gavin and Margie Harrell,  Compass Worship Congregation, Pastor Mike Hall and his wife Jean, and the Elkin Valley Baptist Church Women’s Group for their support during this difficult time.
