Roy Lee "Bud" Sparks

Roy Lee “Bud” Sparks, age 94 of State Road , passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Pruitt Health in Elkin. Mr. Sparks was born on April 15, 1932, in Wilkes County to Walter Grover and Emma Billings Sparks.

Mr. Sparks attended Welcome Home Baptist Church. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 in Wilkes County.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Myers Sparks; a son Marty Lee Sparks; eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his sons, Paul Gregory Sparks and wife Susan of State Road, Walter Shawn Sparks and wife Tami of Elkin; a daughter-in-law Andrea Sparks of Indiana; a brother Linville Sparks of Traphill; grandchildren Amanda Gossage and husband Joe, Andrew Sparks and wife Hope, Amy Young and husband Charlie, Brooke Marion Sparks, Clayton Sparks, Harrison Sparks, and several great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Cheek and Rev. Jerry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 and the US Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
