Russell Hillary Blevins, aged 90, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 31, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on May 6, 1935, in Wilkes County, he was the son of Odell and Naomi Myers Blevins.
Mr. Blevins was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a longtime member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was known for his faith and commitment to his community. In earlier years, he enjoyed motorcycling, was passionate about music—playing multiple instruments—and took pride in woodworking. He valued time with his family above all other pursuits.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Wiles Blevins; his parents; brother Bill Blevins; and sisters Maxine Shumate, Betty Ann Blevins, and Geraldine Roselle.
Survivors include his children: Kevin and JoAnn Blevins; Jody and Roger Pruitt; Catherine "Rusty" and Rev. Michael Osborne; Marina and Darrell Bauguess; and Kristie and Mark Burcham. He is also survived by his brother, Rev. Julius Blevins; and his sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Jim Sparks.
His legacy includes grandchildren: Misty Darnell (Michael), Daniel Blevins (Amy), Johnathan Pardue, Matthew Pardue, Rev. Josh Blevins (Anna), Sarah Cox (Scotty), Steven Bauguess, Lydia Haynes (Jeffery), and James Burcham; and step-grandchildren Jerome Osborne (Amber) and Tasha Hutcherson (Brandon). Great-grandchildren are Mikey Darnell (Sarah), Leeland Atwood, Cannon Blevins, Carson Blevins, Corbin Blevins, Brooklyn Blevins, Braydon Cox, Hailey Cox, and Eleanor Haynes; and step great-grandchildren Jadeah Hutchens, Dalton Osborne, Siera Durham, Lucas Hutcherson, Layla Osborne, Silas Hutcherson, JD Osborne; as well as step-great-great grandchildren Emmette Dancy, Samuel Dancy, Ella Durham, and Deklan Osborne.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 PM at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jeremy Simpson, Bro. Josh Blevins, and Rev. Julius Blevins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
