Samuel Andrew Freeman Jr.

Samuel "Big Sam" Andrew Freeman , age 61, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026 , at his home in Elkin.

Sam was born May 1, 1965 , in Surry County to Samuel Andrew Freeman Sr. and Betty Spencer.

He earned the nick name "Big Sam" not only because of his size but also the size of his heart. He was beloved by all that knew him, especially his grandkids who called him Sam Pa. Sam had two passions in life, family and cars.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his wife Noma Trivette Freeman of the home; two sons, Brighton Andrew Freeman of Elkin and Alex Freeman and wife Ashlee of Elkin, step-daughter, Marissa Helms, and Grandchildren, Adrielle Neff, Addison Freeman, Aaron Freeman, Silas Freeman, and Henry Ewald.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm, at the Elkin Funeral Service
