Sherry Smith Wood

Mrs. Sherry Smith Wood, age 76, of State Road, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Sherry was born November 19, 1946 in Surry County to James Smith and Helen Sebastian Smith.

Sherry was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She worked for many years in the used car business and enjoyed coloring and spending time with her cat, Festus.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Bob Wood; and step-sons, Dean Wood and Darrell Wood.

Survivors include: daughter Kelly Bowman; step-daughter, Joy Vierra; step-son, Robbie Wood; sister, Lynn Smith Swaim; niece, Rachel Hinson and husband Brett; nephew, Jimmy Wagoner and wife Kristen; great-nieces and nephews,  Amy, Henry, Carson, Caylee, and the "Bump."

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Wood and Rev. Brian Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Sherry requested memorials be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 199 Mining School Road, State Road, NC 28676 or Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

The family would like to thank the Brown family, "Chatty-Kathy", Evelyn, Anna and Joyce for all their love and support.
