Terry "Tube" Dickson Settle

Oct 12, 1958 — Jun 25, 2026

Elkin

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our brother Terry Dickson Settle, a.k.a. “Tube”  age 66 of State Road, North Carolina. Terry passed away on June 25, 2026 at Santee Cooper, South Carolina doing what he loved most—bass fishing. Born on October 12, 1959 in Elkin, North Carolina he was the son of Farrell Brady Settle and Barbara Jean Burch. Terry, “Tube” lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. His greatest passions were bass fishing, grouse and quail “bird” hunting, and Friday Night Football games at Elkin High School. Tube was a champion fisherman, having won the championship in the Big Bass World Championship in 2002, giving him that prestigious title of North Carolina State and Regional Bass Champion. He still regularly fished and did so with his friends, especially one of his best friends, Tommy Southern. Tube loved to grouse and quail hunt, but his passion was to grouse hunt and he especially loved doing it with his father, Farrell Settle and his grandfather, Brady Settle and another best friend Sammy Davis. There were many delicious grouse pies made by his grandmother, Hallie Settle a.k.a. Memama. Friday Night Football games at Elkin High School were very important to Tube, as he was an avid Elkin fan who played for the Buckin Elks during his high school years, graduating in 1978.Tube also loved the antique business, buying, selling, and refinishing them. He picked up this trade from his grandparents Brady and Hallie Settle and later on with his father, Farrell at the antique business, Settle Antiques in Elkin North Carolina. He continued this until life-changing events happened, along with his own health, having stopped him. Lastly, if you were one of the fortunate ones who he allowed to see into his heart, then you were a true friend to him, and you could see past all the facades to truly see his loves, his kindness, his infectious laughter. You could see him in light of what he tried to hide, in light of his toughness. He adored his friends. Tube, well, he loved you! Surviving are his brother and sisters Jody B Settle of State Road, Mandy(Charles) Foster, of Elkin Shayne S Smith of Elkin. Nancy Fulp, his lovely lady and partner of 24 years along with many nieces and nephews. And last, but not least, his special feline friend Bruiser. Preceded in death were his father, Farrell Brady Settle; Mother Barbara Jean Burch; Grandparents, Brady and Hallie Settle and Dick and Lucille Hayes; great nephew, Elijah Swaim. We will celebrate Terry‘s life on July 10 from 6 to 8 PM at the Elkin Funeral Services on 560 NC 268 Bus. Hwy. Elkin NC 28621 All who knew Terry are invited to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Fellowship Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 6895 Austin Traphill Road, Traphill, NC 28685.
