Wade Edward Mounce

Mr. Wade Edward Mounce, age 78, of Elkin, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at his home. Mr. Mounce was born on March 22, 1948, in Surry County to Kearney and Nell Wall Mounce.

Mr. Mounce attended Shield of Faith Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a retired firefighter and a member of the board of the CC Camp Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda White.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Frances Mounce; sons, David Mounce and wife Tina, and Jonathan Mounce and wife Rebecca; a sister, Raydell Newman and husband Bobby Joe; a grandson, Caleb Mounce and wife Ella; and a brother-in-law, Tim White.

A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Danley officiating and Military Honors being provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10346. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the donor’s choice.
